Oval Pineapple Doily

I had started with a filet runner pattern for my dressing table but it was turning out too large so I frogged it and instead crocheted this Oval Pineapple Doily. The pattern has a few minor ambiguities and no charts but it turned out to be a beautiful doily and just the right size for my dressing table.

With this doily done, I got all my paraphernalia out, which had been hiding in a cabinet for last four years. However, if the look on my daughter's face is something to go by, these things' life on the outside is likely to be shortlived. DH has alreadly labelled this a futile attempt on my part.

  1. The look on her face and the jewelry on her wrist tells me that your husband is correct. You may decide the battle is not worth fighting!

  2. I love the shape of the doily.
Maybe you'll have better luck if you slowly introduce things to the table instead of all at once.

  3. Your daughter is looking at your dresser like she just hit the lottery! I say leave the stuff on your dresser this is how children learn boundaries.

  4. I remember being fascinated with my mother's stuff, especially perfume. I tried to drink some once. Just once!

    Lovely crochet work!

  5. WOW!! I just ran through the main page of your blog. You sure can knit! I'm just learning. I had 24 stitches to start with and they've gone up to 28 some how. Then down to 22. Now back up to 24... I have no idea what I'm doing hahaha!

I do loathe advertising but since my new hijab blog is *private* no one can get to it uninvited.

  8. oh as a tip for the kids, i got my little one her own litle bag with a few things like lip gloss, cream a brush and clips ect but she is 7yrs old and showed her how and when to use them, she loves it freels alll grown up and like a lady. I think at the age yours is to keep it out of each or just by telling her no no its not to be touched or played with just looked at!
