Bobbles

Inspiration for Bobbles came from this bag. Needless to say, it has a lot of bobbles which may not be to everyone,s liking, but I had never crochet these before so I enjoyed doing it. Also I have to carry around a lot of baby stuff, so I thought it was a classier way to carry it. Crochet part was not very hard but writing down the pattern was. I made the handles myself. Overall I am very pleased with the result.

(I made a very narrow bottom. Increase the foundation chain to the desired width, if you want a larger bottom for the bag.

Finishing:Sew the bottom to the body. Cut and sew lining for the bag. I had a pocket with zippers attached to the lining. I used a piece of cardboard within two layers of fabric for the bottom. Stitch handles in place.

Drawstring with tassels: Using 6 strands of yarn, chain a desired length of drawstring. Weave the drawstring through round 27 of the body of the bag, (see pic). Make two tassels and attach to the ends. ( passed the drawstring through the crocheted piece as well as the lining. I sew 4 buttonholes in the fabric for that purpose.

  7. Thank you for such a great purse. I love it. Being new to crochet, would you please explain the terms yrh and FPDC? Thanks for your trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  8. yrh means yarn round hook, like in a dc. FPDC or front post dc means making a dc in the vertical loop of the st directly below on the previos row/round. There is good explanation somewhere on line though I can not find it hand.

  10. I'm sorry, the yarn I used had no yardage label and I did not have the technical know-how to estimate on my own.

    3. Sorry, it took me a while to reply. FPDC is Front Post Double Crochet, instruction for that st can be found at: http://www.crochetspot.com/how-to-crochet-front-post-double-crochet-fpdc/
Now for my C1 special st, it is done over three sts. Basically you do a FPDC in the second st, then DCTog over 1st and 3rd st, and then do another FPDC in the second st to finish. You can find a nice tutorial for DCtog here: http://www.crochetspot.com/how-to-crochet-double-crochet-decrease/
      Hope this helps.

  16. I have a problem, I worked the pattern up to row 11, row 10 does not count right. If doing as written, it comes out to 122 stitches, but should be only 110 stitches. I tore it out once, but it happened the second time too. I counted the stitches as it is written and it isn't 110, but 122. Not sure where to go from here? I like the pattern and hope to figure it out soon. Any advice would be great! Thanks
