Orzival Socks

My May's Sockdown entry, the Orzival Socks for my husband are done. The yarn is KP Essential kettle Dyed (Timber). The pattern was nice, interestingly detailed to keep away the boredom, yet not complicated. My husband picked the yarn and the pattern himself, and he loves the finished socks. Now that I have discovered the perfect item to knit for him, there will hopefully be many pairs of handmade socks in his future :).

Aquaphobia Socks

It was a close run, with my finishing these socks 3.5 hours before the deadline ( midnight December 31st). I had started these about one and a half months ago but did not cast on the second socks until 3 days ago. So it was really stressful in the end. And for once I struggled with kitchener st, which I always believe to be a piece of cake. Once, I had it fixed, I tried on the sock to find it was too long in the foot. So, I had to frog and redo the toes. If it is any consolation, I got the Kitchener right this time.

Despite this race against time, it has turned out a really nice pair. And I am happy working with the deadline if it means a finished pair. As for the pattern, it is Aquaphobia socks and the yarn is Soft Sock Yarn by Sunshine yarns, which I got from my friend Shells.

And I guess this is my last finished project for the year :)

Here is a sock!

A month of intermittent knitting, finally gives me the first sock of the aquapobia pair. I am not too fond of the pooling at the foot but it is snug and comfortable and fits well. It was a good knitting experience too, without any hitches, and watching how the colors will turn up on every row was great fun! Now, I have to knit the second sock before the end of the month to qualify for the sockdown.

Socks

After a long break from sock knitting, I finally cast on for a new pair of socks. The slip st pattern, Aquaphobia is very simple and addictive. The yarn (Soft Socks Yarn from Sunshine Yarns) is a gift from a friend. I am enjoying how its colors are lining up in the pattern.I will be entering the pair in the SKA November sockdown.

Coatimundi KAL days 3-5, and more

Well, things slowed down during the week and I don't have any progress pictures on the coat and stole. however, am just about to finish sylvi's back and am in the midst of chart four for the stole.
In the meanwhile, I did manage to finish up my first sock of the march pair. Even if I say so myself, it is gorgeous. The pattern would have be a masterpiece if it were written in the right format and the few few mistakes corrected.

I also did some spinning over the week. I'm halfway through the purple roving I got from a friend lately.

And there is some exciting news, but that will require a separate post of its own.

Monkey Business

My pair of monkey socks for the January Sockdown at Sock Knitters Anonymous is finally done. Though I love the pattern and am happy with the way the pair has turned out, it you look at the picture, you can see a difference in color richness between the two socks. This happened within the single skein of yarn. The colors in the right sock are somewhat subdued.

Another thing, I mistakenly did a few less rows in the toe decreases on the left sock :( However it fits okay and now I am wondering if I should fix it or leave it as such.
There is quite a lot of leftover yarn from this project so I plan to make a pair of sock for my daughter out of that, inshaAllah.

May Mystery Socks

As I posted last month, I had started these last month as part of Sockdown May at SKA group at ravelry. I had to frog them twice, first time due to guage problems and the secound time due to some tricky part in the pattern. As a result, it got a bit boring and that's why it took so long. I did the alternative chart (shorter) for the cuff but made it multicolored instead of monchrome.

I ran out of lighter green in the final chart of second sock, so I had to substitute with another yarn. You can see the different yarn in the picture. These socks turned out quite good in the end. And along the way, I tried my hand at magic loop a.k.a. one sock on one circular needle and loved it. No more DPNs for sock knitting for me!
I plan to give them to my mom who has refused to try them on for now (too hot).

Diamonds socks

I finished these socks for the sockdown a few days back. However we are having our Eid nowadays.Today is the third day of the three-day long islamic celebration, so I have obviously been busy. Had a lovely time.

I also started another pair of socks, these of my own design, but now I am worried that I may not have enough yarn... well, we will see in a few days. Also, as a quickie project, I made this book thong. Pattern is from Crochet me.

Oh temptation...

I know I said I have a lot of important stuff lined up for the next few months. And that I would work on my WIPs only. So, I am working on that crdigan for dh, but surely I could knit a pair of socks in two months. Whew, the temptation was great and I gave in just this once (I hope). So I have started this sock for the sockdown at sock knitters anonymous forum at ravelry. I have to finish the pair and post it on the forum by Jan 31, to be in the running for some fabulous yarn.

I have used some old yarn from my stash and touched it up a little with dyes. I am using the generic sock pattern from Kate Gilbert as a general guide with some lace diamonds of my own. It is turning out quite nice.
