Farewell Facebook!!

For the last several months, Facebook was one of my most frequent haunts on the internet. Not surprisingly, I found myself caught up in the whirlwind of recent Facebook games fad. That was fun at first but of late, it grew quite stressful when it began eating at huge chunks of my time and energy. Also, I realized the facebook kind of socialization is not my thing. So, I quit Facebook last night.
I did not have the foresight to give my friends a short notice before leaving facebook, hence this post. All my internet friends, I'm sure you can reach me at nicer venues like this blog and ravelry. And my family, I would much rather meet you in person. So, there..

  1. Playing games on Facebook is a huge time waster. This I have known since my daughters have started indulging in this endlessly resource consuming actiity. Several hours are spent on these games with no end result.

And the social networking that this kind of sites offer may be a great thing for the common lot who just start doing what everyone else is doing but for a person who can think and has common sense, such networking is just plain nonsense.

  2. I have slowly but surely removed all applications and distractions from facebook. I'll still go frequently, but a lot less than I used to. Now I only go to catch up with friends.

Congratulations on your internet achievement! :-)

  3. Great step Umme Yusuf. I would never be bold enough to quit FB just like that even though I'm not in to any of those games like Farmville and Mafia wars etc.

Addiction to Facebook and its apps is just like the time when all of us were hung up on Star plus soaps, don't you think so? I read this post somewhere on "Why Star plus should die?" (http://yello.pk/blog/fazarcane/why-star-plus-must-die/8614) and I think you should write a blog on why Facebook must die? :P hehe

i knick name FB as fitnah book as so much trouble i see on there , things being miss read , taken out of context and all the rest . I know what you mean though about getting out of there. It's important to ensure all on the friends list are people you actually know or have regular contact with and not just add anyone.

  5. I played games a couple of years ago when I had a job that had a lot of down time, but since then, I just make them go away. I use FB to keep up with old friends, which has been really wonderful for me.

I am glad you still have the blog. I just love those skew socks. They are absolutely perfect for that yarn!

  6. As salaamu 'alaikum Sis! I'm about to do the same thing, InshaALLAH.

A few months ago I was the only one not on there and now I'm on there way too much. I'm done with it.

    Take care,
    wa salaam,
